What do I do if my child will be late? Please call to report a student who will be more than 1 hour late. All late students must report to the main office (UC) or nurse's office (LC) to sign in and obtain a late pass. How do I reach my child during the day? Phone calls to students can be disruptive to the whole classroom. While we discourage students receiving phone calls during the day, we also realize that emergencies do occur. Please call the office of your child's school and we will take a message to deliver to your child. back to the top
My child lives in dual households. How do I make sure both families are getting information? Call either campus to request to be put on the 2nd address mailing list or complete the 2nd Address Form. back to the top
My child has allergies. How do I make sure he isn't exposed to certain things that cause a reaction? Be sure to fill out a school emergency card provided at the beginning of each year. If there are changes during the year, please contact the school nurse. The nurse will be happy to discuss any concerns you have and will educate the teachers of your child. back to the top
My child gets frequent headaches. Can I send aspirin for her to take during the day? For safety issues, students are not permitted to carry their own medication. All medication must be locked in the health office. All medicine, including over the counter, must be approved for use by your child's doctor. Call the health office for a form that can be faxed to your doctor. back to the top
My child is having a party and I want to bake cookies. Is that o.k.? No. Homemade treats are prohibited by the Minnesota Department of Health. All treats, snacks, etc., must be purchased. Please comply with our wellness policy and provide non-food items or a nutritious snack. back to the top
My child wants to go home on a different bus with a friend. Is this permitted? Lower Campus: These arrangements are not permitted at the Lower Campus. Students at the Lower Campus who wish to make play dates should do so independent of school. Upper Campus: Both students affected must bring a note from home and come to the office in the morning for a bus pass. Students are not permitted to ride a bus unless they have a bus pass. Students must make these arrangements prior to riding the bus. back to the top
I just got a job and my child will need to go to someone's house after school. How do I make arrangements for the bus? Call the school to request a school bus change request . If the address is within our busing area, we will send the request to transportation and give you information on the bus # and time. back to the top
I want to add money to my child's lunch account and see what she has been eating for lunch. How do I do that? Check out The district site and link to School Cafe. You will find information on how to pay and how to monitor your child's eating habits. (NOTE: You will need your child's school ID # to access this. I need to pick my child up early. How do I arrange that? All families must sign their child out. When you arrive at the office, just let us know who you are picking up and we will call him/her to the office to meet you. We ask that you please refrain from picking up your child between 3:30 and the end of the school day because it is a very busy time of day. back to the top
My child called me from school, but didn’t leave a message. How do I know he is not sick or there is some other emergency? Please encourage your child to leave a message. With the advent of caller ID, we get several calls each day from parents wondering why their child called. In general, if it was important, a message will be left. If your child is sick, the nurse will make every effort to notify you if he/she needs to be picked up. back to the top

How do I enroll my child at LHCS? In Minneapolis, the school registration process is handled centrally by the Student Placement Center managed by Mpls Public Schools (MPS). You can call them at 612-668-1840 or learn more about registration at their website http://www.mpls.k12.mn.us/schools_registration.html. Registration normally takes place in January for the following fall. The School Choice request cards are typically due in to MPS in February for your best chance to get the school you want. back to the top
