Dear Middle Grades student and your parents:

Welcome to the 2014-15 school year!  We look forward to your return to school.  We are including your schedule in this mailing so there is no need to come to the school to pick it up.  If you have a concern about your schedule, our new assistant principal will help you during the first week of school.  Please note that we will not change schedules to accommodate friends being in classes together.

Again this year, all middle grades students will need a thumb drive to store their computer work on and must do all of their printing at home.  Also, we are requesting that all electronic devices be locked in lockers during the day.  This is to prevent loss, theft and distraction during class.  We will have some locks available to be purchased from the school for $5.00, however, any type of lock may be used. If a student loses a key or forgets a combination, however, we will have to break the lock (at the student’s expense) to enter the locker.

We have worked hard to ensure that middle grades students will have movement from hour to hour in their schedules.  The core classes were scheduled separately from the specialist classes which increases the chances that students will see different faces throughout the day.  This year our 8th graders will have first hour specialist, our 7th graders will have fourth hour specialist and our 6th graders will have fifth hour specialist.

This year we welcome Mr. Corey Needleman as our new band/orchestra teacher.  We will also have a new Assistant Principal.  In addition, our STEM specialist, Nicole Zeltinger, will be moving to room 113 and will be teaching STEM to all grades this year.

Remember to attend the Middle School Curriculum and Sixth Grade Orientation night on Wednesday, August 20.  Remember to bring your schedule with you.  Instructions for the orientation are as follows:  8th graders come from 5:00-6:00 p.m. and follow your Monday schedule; 7th graders come from 6:00-7:00 p.m. and follow your Monday schedule. 6th graders meet in the gym at 6:30 for orientation, then follow your Monday schedule from 7:00-8:00.

See you soon!
