Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year. This summer our school district changed out the rubber chips in our playground. Now we have wood chips. In addition, thanks to the Fulton Neighborhood Association we have added two new pieces of play equipment (see photos). Come check them out!

Short Note: We strive for excellent attendance.

Being in school every day means your child won’t miss out on learning. Try to schedule appointments and family trips outside of school hours. If you arrive to school between 9:25 a.m. and 9:35 a.m., you can enter door #1 on 41st street. We do however encourage your good byes in the atrium/mezzanine level of the entrance. If you arrive after 9:35 a.m., the doors will be locked and you will be buzzed in and you will then need to go to the health office for a tardy pass to class. Our day of instruction starts at 9:40 a.m.

If your child asks to stay home, “just because” remind him/her of what they will miss such as reading group or PE class. Explain that he/she can be absent only if they are sick or if there is a family emergency.

This year the staff at Lower in engaged in sowing the seeds of kindness. Our school and district is committed to educating the whole child with a focus on social emotional learning. How will you help to sow the seeds of kindness at Lower, with your child or at home or in the community?

I am looking forward to a good and kind school year.

With Kindness,
Merry Tilleson
