There was a girls basketball info meeting last week at school. It was announced to the students and several students attended. They were given a short information sheet, along with a registration packet including a form for a MPS Athletic physical. Their coach will be Ms. Sami Booth, who played college basketball to coach the Lake Harriet team. She is excited to get started. Tryouts start November 14.

Physical Requirements: If they haven't already played a school sport in the last year or so, they likely will need this physical. If they had a general physical recently, a lot of times the doctor will just fill out the MPS Athletic physical form. By the way, they can make an appointment at the school based clinic at Southwest High School for a free physical. The MPS Athletic physicals are good for three years. All of this paperwork should be returned to the Athletic Office at Southwest High School. There is a box outside this office if the Athletic Director Ryan Lamberty, or his assistant, is not in.

Please make sure all of the paperwork is completed well before tryouts. It sometimes takes several days to process, given the almost 1000 student athletes who are turning in forms at Southwest.

Please do not hesitate to contact the head Girls Basketball Coach, Dan Froehlich, if you have any questions, or would like more information.

Consider attending the October 29 basketball clinic hosted by the SW Lady Lakers Basketball Program, which will be conducted by the Timberwolves/Lynx Basketball Academy. It runs from 9 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at the SW main gym. This is a great way to get ready for the season.
