The EXPLORE test is administered to Minneapolis 8th grade students in the fall of each school year; the costs associated with the administration of the EXPLORE are paid for by the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE). EXPLORE has four academic tests: English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science. A Composite Score (score range 1-25) summarizes performance across all four academic tests. In addition to the academic tests, students complete an interest inventory and needs assessment. For more information about the EXPLORE test, please visit the ACT Web site .

Our 8th graders will be taking the test on November 18 and 19th. The first day students will take an Interest inventory which is not timed.

On the second day our students will complete the academic portion of the ACT test. There are four sections each being 30 minutes. The English section has 40 questions, the Math section has 30 questions, the Reading section has 30 questions and the Science section has 28 questions. This year the test will be administered during 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th hour Spanish classes in computer labs 006 and 211. The testing monitors will be Sherry Mather and Merry Tilleson.

Parents/Guardians please look for a flyer that is being sent home with your 8th grader on Wednesday November 13th. This will explain in more detail about the test.
