I want to begin with two huge "thank yous:

·       Thank you to all the parents who were able to attend their childs conference. We value the partnership between the school and parents and it is a large contributing factor in the academic success we have at Lake Harriet.

·       Thank you to PTA and Rhonda Bonnabeau who coordinated the food that was brought in for teachers on the conference days. Teachers enjoyed the treat and it helped them to be more prepared. There were many parents who were involved with donating the treats and pizza.

Lake Harriet Lower has been chosen to participate in a taste test of Moroccan Bean Salad in your cafeteria on November 7. The same salad will be served in the school lunch on November 7th. Our goal with the taste test is to expose the students to the salad in advance and get them excited about trying healthy, tasty, new foods.

In the cafeteria, each student will be offered a small sample of Moroccan Bean Salad in a compostable taste test cup either just after they put in their PIN or at the tables once they are sitting down. They will be encouraged to try the sample and get a sticker. They can give feedback by voting, indicating whether it was great J good K or okay L.

State of the School information night is scheduled for Tuesday, October 29 at 6:00 at the Upper Campus. All parents are invited to hear how our School Improvement Plan worked for last year and what we have planned for this year. We are also holding a Coffee and Conversation with Jan, Walter and Merry on Nov. 11 at 9:30-10:30 in the Lower Campus Commons. If you have more questions or suggestions or wondering come and talk to us in a less formal and smaller setting.
