Congratulations to the eleven Lake Harriet GISE and GEMS teams that competed in the Minneapolis Public Schools First Lego League Tournament on January 26, 2019! The teams worked hard for months building and programming their robots and designing innovative solutions to problems faced by astronauts during space travel. Our Lake Harriet teams excelled, bringing home seven awards, including: Research Project – Space Gumballs (Henry C., Micah G., Samuel C., Drew C., and Will A.) and Northern Lights (Lily J., Julia R. and Natalia G.) Robot Design – Gear GISE (Spencer D., Nathan H., Eli K. and Parker H.) and Tardy Boys Save Space (Oliver E., Bennett E., Kai H., and Henri K.) Robot Performance – PIES in Space (Lewis W., Nora K., Olyn R., and Andrew S.) Innovative Design – The Solar Sisters (Amber C., Ayla S., Audrey S., Julia H., Isobel H., and Haley D.) Judges Award – Positive Pandas (Maeve S., Ellen D., Mae H., and Kaysa W.) The “Gear GISE” also qualified for the state tournament! We had several new and young teams and they ALL did an amazing job! A special thank you to coaches Mr. T and Mr. B and to our parent volunteers (parent coaches and Lake Harriet tournament volunteers) for preparing our students so well for the District tournament.
