Lake Harriet School Community,
As we now know, Principal Tilleson is retiring at the end of the school year after a very successful tenure
as principal at Lake Harriet Lower. We thank Ms. Tilleson for her work on behalf of the students, families, and the entire Lake Harriet community and wish her all the best in her retirement. We are beginning a robust and thorough process for identifying the next principal. The first step in this process is hearing from the community regarding the ideal attributes you are seeking in the next principal. Please feel free to contribute to this by filling out a short survey here.
The survey will remain open through Thursday, March 19th.
A letter is going out to families from both the Lake Harriet Lower and Lake Harriet Upper campuses
and asks respondents to choose your school site. To help better track responses, please choose Lake
Harriet Lower if you currently have a child who attends that campus. For all others, please choose Lake
Harriet Upper.
In Minneapolis, we have an ongoing “pool” of candidates for principal positions. We will identify
candidates in the pool who match the attributes you identify in the survey to bring forward for a
committee to interview. That committee will be comprised of Site Council members, members of the
school’s Instructional Leadership Team, and myself. Our goal is to have the committee begin the
interview process the week of May 7th. As with all principal positions, the Superintendent will make the
final decision in the principal selection process.
I will be attending the Site Council meeting on Tuesday, March 17th to explain things in more detail and
to answer any questions. If you have any immediate questions, please feel free to email me.
Thank you for your commitment to the Lake Harriet schools and to Minneapolis Public Schools.
Sincerely,
Brian Zambreno
Associate Superintendent.
