In February, LHCS 8th grade students participated in Southwest High School’s “Race2Justice” day. “Race2Justice” day is an all day workshop at SWHS with sessions about social justice in the Southwest community and globally, branching out to all intersections. The event is organized and facilitated by SWHS students, teachers, and activists from around the Twin Cities.

Examples of topics included: intro to social justice, feminism, microaggressions, white allyship, cultural appropriation, etc. The intention of LHCS 8th grade participation in this day was to educate and inspire students to think critically about issues of social justice and to gain a better understanding of their role in a community and country that is socially, culturally and economically diverse.
