Kiren D. won the 2018 Lake Harriet Upper School Spelling Bee which was held on January 10. For the second year in a row, he will be moving on to the MPS District Spelling Bee on February 2. Second-place finisher, Jonathan F., fought a hard battle but was eventually eliminated with the word “pulmonary.” Kiren‘s final-round word was “interpolated” and his championship word was “clandestine.” We wish Kiren success in the upcoming competitions and hope he makes it all the way to the National Spelling Bee in Washington DC.

A special thank you to volunteers Gregg Townsend, event organizer and MC, Gretchen Lieving, Judge, Judy Jasperson, 2nd Judge, Anne Arden, Score Keeper and Amy Mimick for handing out certificates and coordinating treats.
