In February and March, five lower campus classrooms participated in the Maud Hart Lovelace Book Award and the Star of the North Book Award programs sponsored by the Minnesota Youth Reading Awards (MYRA). The Star of the North winner was "The Astonishing Secrets of Awesome Man" by Michael Chabon (our 2nd place vote) with "Extra Yarn" by Mac Barnett coming in 2nd (our 1st choice). The Maud Hart Lovelace Division I winner was "Because of Mr. Terupt" by Rob Buyea (our 2nd place) with "Out of My Mind" by Sharon Draper coming in 2nd. It's clear we have discerning readers in our school! Way to go, Lake Harriet readers! You can access the 2014-15 nominees through the MYRA website.. Many thanks to teachers, staff, and students involved! Stay tuned for opportunities to be involved in next year's program.
