We are making preparations for the annual LHCS Eighth Grade Recognition Ceremony. You should have received a postcard last week alerting you to the date (Thursday, June 5 at 2:00 p.m.) We now need your help with the following two items to make the event a success for all our 8th graders.
1. Please email/send a favorite fun photo of your child when she/he was around the age of 5 to 6 years old, when they were starting school. There are two ways to send your photo. The first – preferable – way is to send a digital photo to Patrice Kaye at PatriceKaye@live.com with your student’s name and “8th grade graduation” in the subject line. The picture can either be a digital photo or a digital scan of a photo. The second way is to send an actual photo to school with your student in an envelope marked “8th Grade Recognition” with your student’s name on the envelope. The photo can be given to your student’s advisory teacher and will be returned to you at the graduation ceremony. There is a mail slot in the UC office for the photo if you choose to drop it off. Please send your photo as soon as you can, but no later than May 2, 2014.
A photographer will take a portrait of your child this spring at school. The photo will be shown beside their “starting-school” photo to demonstrate just how much they have changed. In addition, your child’s advisory teacher will hand out a short questionnaire to students in class to have them record some of their memorable experiences at LHCS. Their responses will be incorporated into the ceremony.
2. Please contribute $15 (or more if you are able) towards the graduation activities. Checks can be made out to “LHCS PTA” and contributions can either be given to your student’s advisory teacher or dropped off in the UC office in the box labeled “8th grade recognition ceremony.”
If you have any questions please feel free to contact either Blaire Hartley at blaire_hartley@yahoo.com, or Lorna Wilson at doone@usinternet.com.
Thank you for helping us to make this a memorable and fun experience!
