LHCS stakeholders are invited to join the Site Council meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 22, for the principals’ annual “State of the School” presentation. The presentation will take place in the Upper Campus media center at 5:00 pm.
For those who aren’t familiar with LHCS’s Site Council, it is a leadership team that serves as an advisory and planning body for our school. Every school in our district has a Site Council, which is a forum for staff and parents to provide direction to the administration and to enhance student achievement. Some of Site Council’s responsibilities include monitoring the school budget, long-range planning and advocating for our school’s needs. LHCS stakeholders are welcome to attend any of Site Council’s monthly meetings; the schedule is posted on the LHCS web site.
The LHCS Site Council works closely with the LHCS PTA, which marshals human and financial resources to support student enrichment and the functioning of our school. PTA organizes our school’s fundraisers – such as the recent Dragon Dash (fun run), the upcoming Read-a-Thon and the end-of-year DragonFest (carnival) – and recruits hundreds of volunteers for everything from Picture Day to leading tours of LHCS. Anyone can attend PTA meetings, which are held on the second Tuesday of each month, and anyone can become a member of our school’s PTA by paying a $10 membership fee.
