There are many exciting things happening to the building at Upper Campus.  Here is a brief summary:

1.   Furniture – our district has a “cycle of replacement” for items like furniture.  Our time has arrived so we will be getting new student and teacher furniture for the 2016-2017 school year (this doesn’t include items like the “lounge” chairs in the library or the waiting chairs in the office).  We have a team of teachers working with the purchasing department to choose the furniture that will work best with each space and grade level.

2.   Flooring – the flooring work will continue this summer during and after the Super Summer program.  The second floor hallways will be sanded and refinished, there will be some new treads on the main stairways, the office will have new flooring and several classrooms will receive new floors.  The exact scope of the project is still a “work-in-progress,” but we are excited about the upgrades.

3.   Lighting – we are expecting new LED light fixtures in the common spaces (hallways, atrium, lunchroom).  Again, this is a “work-in-progress” and the final scope of the project could change depending on the budget and the bids that come in from contractors.

4.   Solar Panels – we are currently having solar panels installed above the media center as part of a district initiative to “A) provide an educational component about alternative energy options for the students, and B) provide the District with alternative energy sources to reduce our utilities costs to allow those funds to back into the schools.”

Please contact the school if you have any questions about these exciting projects.
