Walk for School Safety

heart-hands

On Wednesday, March 14th, Lake Harriet Upper will be participating in a silent Walk for School Safety.  Our Walk for School Safety is meant to show solidarity with the nation-wide and city-wide events planned for that day.  Students will bring their coats to class, walk down from their classrooms with staff at 10:00 that morning and walk around the school building in silence, returning to their classrooms at 10:17.  (The 17-minute timeframe is meant to remember the 17 people who died in Parkland, Florida.)

This is a voluntary activity for students and staff; students who don't want to participate can stay behind with staff in classrooms.  There will be no Advisory that day, so that classes can start at 9:40 and no instructional time will be missed because of this event.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mr. Schleisman or Ms. Gillingham.  If parents want to help out with this event, please contact Rhonda Bonnabeau.  We would appreciate having parent volunteers stationed around the school at that time to help out and to show solidarity. Email Rhonda Bonnabeau if you’d like to volunteer
