Lake Harriet Community School Familes and Friends are invited to a join in a wonderful evening of music on Tuesday night, September 11th 2012 at 7:00pm at the Lake Harriet Band Shell.

The concert is entitled, 9-11 Tribute Our Community Remembers,  in remembrance of a very tragic day in our nation’s history.

An all volunteer, 60-piece orchestra and 50-voice chorus will perform the music. Rehearsals have been ongoing for the past few weeks. I know the evening will be a wonderful event. Our hosts again this year are from WCCO TV.

During the tribute, we would like the young people to participate. As the ‘National Emblem’ march is played, they will be invited to march in a parade around the bench seats at the Band Shell. The Masons of Lake Harriet Masonic Lodge will give out hundreds of American Flags for the young people to wave as they march in the parade.

At the end of the concert the entire audience will light vigil candles to honor the 2,996 people that lost their lives on 9-11-2001. We will finish the evening with the song ‘God Bless America’ and Stars and Stripes forever at the end of the evening.

The concert will last approximately 1-1/2 hours. I know for some of the very young people, 8:30pm might be a bit late on a school night. The special ending might be worth staying up for on this one special night. The 9-11 Tribute has become an annual event, and it is our intention that it will continue on and will always be held on September 11th at 7pm at the Lake Harriet Band Shell.
