School Improvement Plan (SIP)
The Minneapolis Public School district and LHCS hold themselves accountable for continuous improvement to close the achievement gap while raising achievement for all students. Yearly evaluation and writing of the School Improvement Plan (SIP) is a part of that Continuous Improvement process.
The SIP is the action plan for our school. Teachers and administration use the assessment data from the MCAs, MAP,and other assessments to direct goals for our SIP therefore, it includes assessments of student achievement, school climate and other factors and sets forth the goals, strategies and professional development plans of the school.
The School Improvement Plan (SIP) serves two purposes:
The SIP format is consistent with all of those in the MPS district. The lower campus has a separate SIP from that of the upper campus because the process for evaluation is different for K and 1st grades. The SIPs are typically written in August, when the results of the previous year's MCAs and other assessment results are available. Both SIP plans are reviewed by the Site Council then presented at the annual State of the School meeting. They must be approved by the school district and the Minnesota Department of Education, then they are posted, here, on the school page. They are reviewed and updated throughout the year by the school's Instructional Leadership Teams.
