WELCOME TO MY CLASSROOM WEB PAGE!

2019-20 will be my 12th year at Lake Harriet .  The first 4 years here, I taught 3rd grade.  For the past 7 years I have been teaching 4th grade.  This year promises to be another great experience here in room #1 at Lake Harriet Community School Upper Campus.  I love being a part of this wonderful, supportive, and involved community.

To get our communication started, I'll tell you some things about myself that you may find interesting and useful.  I went to St. Cloud State University and received my Bachelor's of Science degree in Special Education with an EMMH K-12 license.  I furthered my education at Augsburg College in Minneapolis where I added an elementary K-6 licensure to my resume.  Following my experience at Augsburg, I returned to SCSU to receive my LD (Learning Disabilities) K - 12 licensure.  I  continued to further my career path by attending the University of St. Thomas and earning my Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.

I began my teaching career right here in the Minneapolis Public School system.  I was a student teacher at Burrough's, Anwatin, and Holland.  I taught 1 year at Groves Learning Center in St. Louis Park, and was then hired by Minneapolis Public Schools.  For 5 years, I taught at Hall Montessori School as a special education resource teacher.  At Jefferson Elementary School I taught 2nd grade for 12 years.  The next 4 years at Jefferson, I had a position that combined the responsibilities of a special education resource teacher, Title I teacher, and a TAP (Teacher Advancement Program) Coach.

For the past 11 years, I have been a 3rd and 4th grade teacher here at Lake Harriet Community School.  I can honestly say that those years have been the highlight of my career.

I believe, that as an elementary educator, it is my obligation to enrich the academic and social lives of my students with exemplary teaching and nothing less than the highest expectations of success for each and every one of them.
