Congratulations on a great season to the 14 girls on the Lake Harriet middle school “A” volleyball team, and the 18 girls on the “B” volleyball team.

The A team finished Minneapolis conference play in 3rd place with a record of 5-1.  A heartbreaking loss in the first round of the conference tournament cut short their season, but does not diminish the overall strength of their record.  They also logged a 2-2 record in non-conference play.  Coach Kevin Steiner said it was a great season for the A squad, winning against some tough teams in close games.  "Even though we did not make it to the Championship, the girls grew as players and as a team. Myself and Assistant Coach Jenny enjoyed the opportunity this year to coach at Lake Harriet.  We wish the best of luck to all the 8th graders that move in to High School Volleyball next year, and we hope to see the 6th, 7th and 8th graders next year at Lake Harriet!  Thank you girls and Go Dragons!!!"

The A team athletes were  Ava K, Cezanne D, Claire W., Emma L.,  Grace L., Jocie C., Julia M., Lily M., Lindsey M.., Mara S., Olivia Y., Paige H., Patricia T., and Quinn M.

The B team still has a final tournament to play on Oct 26, and is currently fighting to break a streak of close losses.  Many of the girls came in with little volleyball experience and have advanced their level of play and knowledge of the sport tremendously over the course of the season.  Their coaches, Richard Sisson and Lorna Wilson, noted the girls’ enjoyment of the game, strong teamwork, and impressive sportsmanship as outstanding qualities of this team.  They were a great group to coach.

The B team athletes were:  Allison T., Frances B., Grace S., Isla E., Katie C., Katie H., Lara G., Lily W., Lux F., Madison S., Mitra K., Montse C., Nicole G., Olivia S., Romey D., Sage C., Taylor L., and Ula T.

Great job, Dragons! You represented your school well and should be proud of your accomplishments.
