MPS is hosting its fifth annual Farm to School Community BBQ on Thursday, Sept. 22, from 4:30-7:00 p.m., in the MPS Culinary and Wellness Services’ parking lot.

The Farm to School program at MPS has grown into a national model for serving fresh, sustainably grown, local food in school meals. This year, we are working with more than 15 different local farms and businesses to serve our students high-quality, true food.

There will be free delicious local food and a chance to talk with True Food Chef Council members who support the district’s commitment to scratch cooking, food integrity and healthy eating. There will also be live music, bike blender smoothies and lots of activities to learn about nutrition, food waste and more.

And you won’t want to miss the V.I.P. Corn-Shucking Contest at 6 p.m. Watch as Board Director Josh Reimnitz, City Councilman Jacob Frey and State Senator Bobby Joe Champion team up with MPS students and race to see who will be crowned “Corn-Shucker Extraordinaire” (unofficial title).

Thank you for your support!
