The Academics Committee of Site Council recently organized a discussion of the book Mindset by Carol Dweck. Barry Wadsworth, LHCS parent and Minneapolis Public Schools staff member, facilitated the discussion for parents, discussing the benefits of promoting a growth mindset for our children, in which we emphasize effort, rather than results, to keep kids curious and engaged in learning. A portion of Ms. Dweck’s talk at the 2013 Young Minds Conference was viewed at the event.

Her philosophy of happiness involves being infinitely curious and constantly learning. She describes fixed mindset and growth mindset, and provides ideas for how to promote a growth mindset for our children.
