To the staff and parents at Lake Harriet Lower school:

In the upcoming months, the MPS Paint Dept. will be working at Lake Harriet lower School. Our painters have many years of experience working in busy schools -- we will accomplish this work with the least possible disruption to the students at Lake Harriet Lower. The MPS Paint Dept. will address worn, damaged surfaces and areas with peeling paint. The priority and schedule of work is determined by consulting with the Principal and the Head Engineer. When students are present we will take whatever precautions are necessary to avoid disruption.

This is a state-funded deferred maintenance project that must be completed by June 30, 2016.

Using the latest technology, paint manufacturers have developed products specifically for use in occupied buildings such as schools and hospitals. The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) established the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System™. On this project we will use L.E.E.D. certified materials such as Sherwin Williams ProMar 200 wall paint, and PPG Pure Performance coatings. All of these products are low V.O.C.; many of the products contain Zero V.O.C.s. (Volatile Organic Compounds). All of the products used inside offices and classrooms are Zero V.O.C. These are acrylic materials which contain no latex.
