The City of Minneapolis 13th Ward office has received a number of complaints recently about parking near the LHCS Upper Campus; residents have informed us that their sightlines and ability to leave their alleys safely have been greatly restricted due to parents and caregivers parking and driving illegally during school drop-off and pick-up.

Specifically, cars are parking in the “No Parking 8 a.m.-5 p.m.” zone on the east side of 49XX Washburn up to and along the concrete traffic diverter at 49th & Washburn, and within 5’ of alleys, between 3:30-4:30 p.m. on school days. Further, when the traffic signal at 49th & Xerxes causes traffic to back up to Washburn, cars have been reported cutting through the alley between Xerxes and Washburn, which is illegal.  To keep our students and families safe, please obey all city rules and signage.

As a reminder, student drop-off and pick-up should take place on Washburn, not on Vincent.  Driving on Vincent during those times makes it very difficult for busses to turn the corner and reach their loading areas.  Thank you.

Thanks,
