State History Day Results

On Sat. May 2, nineteen LHUC seventh graders participated in Minnesota History Day at the U of M and presented their historical research projects on the theme, "Leadership and Legacy in History." We are so proud of "ALL" of our students who worked so hard to improved their NHD projects for the state competition.

National History Day Qualifier: Rachel S. received 2nd place for her individual performance, Leadership and Legacy in Social Reform: Dorothea Dix and the Massachusetts Memorial, and will represent Minnesota at National History Day in College Park, Maryland in June.

LHUC Special Awards:

Sonia C. received 3rd place and a Topical Prize in Women's History for her historical research paper, Ida B. Wells: The Voice of the Hanging Tree.

Trey G. received 5th Place for his exhibit board, Dwight D. Eisenhower and the Interstate Highway System.

Ellie S. received an honorable mention award for her exhibit board, Joan Ganz Cooney: A Leader in Educational TV.

Emma M. & Olivia W. received an honorable mention award for their exhibit board, Ida B. Wells: Fighting Injustice.

Katie H. & Maddy G.G. received an honorable mention award for their exhibit board, Chasing the Clouds Away: Joan Ganz Cooney and the Making of Sesame Street
